Harry Grows Up

New York is a tough place to find love. Especially for an 18-month-old living on his own.

10 – 15 | Dramedy | Live-Action | Love | USA | 2013

Falling in Love is tough. And as your first love leaves you to go to College even the New York City, with it’s sea of residents, looks emptied-out. Winter is coming. Depression is brewing. We’ve all been there.  But what Harry didn’t know is that you can never expect what life has planned for you.
I mean, how could he know, He is only eighteen months old. As the first flowers of spring are starting to bloom, he will bump into Zoe (Elizabeth Elkins) whilst trying to keep his babysitter – his first love – (Grace Gawthrop) from getting in his way.
This Black & White short film is 12 minutes of pure joy.  The classic NewYork love story is narrated by an adult voice. Harry, played by Lucas Nickelsburg who is the director’s son and Zoe, played by the little Mazzy, are both quite extraordinarily on point. The original score was composed for Brooklyn Rider and Anthony McGill. It’s not cheesy, it’s not regressive, it’s not expected.
Since this short movie was released in 2013, Harry Grows Up won almost 20 festival awards from which “Best of New York” at the New York International Short Film Festival and “Audience Favourite” at the LA Comedy Shorts Festival.
Enjoy watching!
