Let it rain
A deadly shootout... with water weapons.
Shady characters , a dramatic tone, lots of suspense … the first scenes of Let it Rain set up an impending shootout … that in fact will happen, and it’ll be brutal. The only dissonant note? The dangerous weapons used by these ruthless criminals, are in fact water pistols. Kidnappings, deadly shots, action scenes that would impress even Quentin Tarantino, are all perfectly shot in detail by Matt Hardie (both director and protagonist of the film), except that there is no bloodshed here, only lots and lots of water. The effect is exhilarating, and there seems to be no apparent sense in all of this, especially in the solemn evil that emanates from every character involved in these criminal activities. Will there be a reason behind this nonsense?
This bizarre short film, winner at Tropfest Australia 2013, faithfully reproduces the style and tone of films like Die Hard or Lethal Weapon, starting from the headlines down to the use of the soundtrack, but plays on the disconcerting effect of the water weapons to raise laughter and interest.
