Ormie – by Rob Silvestri
Ormie is a pig, in every sense of the word: see his attempts to gain the warm sweet taste that is his obsession
Ormie is a pig (in every sense of the word) and he has one goal: eat. Food is his obsession. Ormie sees biscuits, Ormie wants biscuits, it’s impossible to resist. In the four funny minutes of the animated short film Ormie directed by Rob Silvestri, there are a number of funny tricks implemented by the pig to grab the cookies.
This brilliant and witty work from Starz Animation Toronto is inspired by slapstick comedy, the style remembers the old animated Warner Bros.’s cartoons, in the transition from traditional animation to 3D computer graphics. This cute and nice story could evolve into a series of episodes, as the character of Ormie is suitable to be the star of countless adventures.
Ormie is a short film that, in its simplicity, has film festival audiences laughing and cheering. The short has garnered 8 festival awards including Best Short Film (Savannah FF 2010, Palm Springs Int’l Shorts Fest 2010, Sprockets 2010, Seattle Int’l FF 2010) and the Audience Award (New York Int’l Children’s FF 2011).comments powered by Disqus
