Runaway – by Emily Buchanan, Susan Yung and Esther Parobek
The best time of the year to love your refrigerator
In the Internet of Things era, loving a refrigerator will not be so weird. Probably it’ll be easy to have a misunderstanding with your appliance as in the story between a man named Stanley and his treasured 1950’s refrigerator, named Chillie. Set in present day, Runaway is the animated short film directed by Emily Buchanan, Susan Yung and Esther Parobek.
Runaway is the final work of the three filmmakers at the Ringling College of Art and Design. The CGI short focuses on the affection for the objects we possess, but it can be also considered as a manifesto against rampant consumerism and impulse buying.
Running after the latest market trends or hypertechnology objects might be hurting your 50’s or vintage appliances, so please you should think twice before replacing it. By the way, it’s the perfect time of the year to love a refrigerator. You’ll still be more and more convinced following the adventures of Chillie here.comments powered by Disqus
